Cancel your membership

  2. 2Under "Membership & Billing", click "Cancel Membership"
  3. 3Click "Finish Cancellation" — you keep access until the billing period ends
Note: Netflix does not charge a cancellation fee. You can reactivate anytime and your viewing history is preserved for 10 months.

Change your plan

  2. 2Select a new plan and confirm
  3. 3Changes take effect immediately; billing is prorated

Restart a cancelled membership

  1. 1Log in with your existing email and password
  2. 2You'll be prompted to choose a plan and re-enter payment details
  3. 3Your profiles and viewing history are restored if within 10 months

  • "Pause" pre-selected on cancellation

    When cancelling, Netflix presents a "pause membership" option as the prominent choice with a timer, making it easy to accidentally pause instead of cancel.

  • Confirm-shaming copy

    The final cancellation button is styled in plain text while the "Keep Membership" button is prominent and highlighted.

    Downgrading from a higher tier requires navigating through upsell screens that emphasize features you'll lose.
